WHAT WE HAVE DONE SO
FAR
The summary of carrying out of the project in the first
year (2007/2008)
Educational
activities:
o
We have taken part in a lecture on the
existence of yew in the western Pomerania (region in north-western
Poland) given by Urszula Grinn Polish at the Tourist and Sightseeing
Society in Szczecin.
o
We have participated in the workshops for
students on the way of preparing the analysis of greenery with the use of
the project method.
o
We have created competition regulations for
the best report on greenery in the school district „Gumieńce” compiled
from the collected material.
o
The students have translated into English
competition regulations for the best analysis of the greenery condition on
the school premises.
o
We have taken part in workshops organized by
Voluntary Labor Corps on the self-presentation to present yourself well
during the international meeting with partners.
o
During geography lesson we have collected
material for analysis of greenery in the school premises. We have taken
photos of groups of plants as well as individual specimen. We measured
circumference of old trees and collected leaves and fruit. We have
analyzed the collected plants material biologically – names, features,
environmental requirements.
o
The students have handed in ready analyses of
the greenness in the “Gumieńce” district.
o
The students have presented their projects
during the competition finals on our gym. We have introduce the winners
and given awards to them.
o
The students have had 2 lessons concerning
the condition of greenery in our city.

The students have had a lesson on entering
into contracts in order to learn how to cooperate with different
institutions what will be essential to complete.

The students have watched „The secret garden”
in English.

The students had a Polish lesson on the
symbols of plants in different cultures.

The students had a lesson on estimating costs
in order to count the costs of their future garden.
Cooperation with University of Agriculture
o
The students have taken part in the lecture
on the history of garden and urban greenness delivered especially for them
at the University of Agriculture in Szczecin.
o
Students have taken part in the last
workshops at University of Agriculture. They learnt how to design a garden
and they prepared their own plans.
o
Students presented their ideas for our garden
during ceremonial presentation. The journalist of Moje Miasto - Natalia
Geldener was present as well as landscape architects from University of
Agriculture – Ph.D. Magdalena Rzeszotarska-Pałka and MA Krzysztof Kotwas,
who had had workshops with the students and are going to create a
professional project of our garden.

There was a presentation of the ready plan
of our garden prepared by the landscape designer from the University of
Agriculture.

We have created this web site.

Local television has visited us and they made
a short material giving information on our project, eco-news in TVP 3 in a
program “trash disposal”.

We have edited a special issue of our school
magazine named „The Mirror” where all the students can find detailed
information about the project.

WHAT WE HAVE DONE

Till 04.07.2008
o
We have tabled the motion in
The Regional Fund for Environmental Protection
and Water Management.
o
We have visited
another Fund supporting ecological enterprises and asked money. We get the
positive response again.
o
We have written an
official petition to the Fund. We attached some materials from the first
year of carrying out the project, our plans and aims for the next year and
some pictures. We have tabled the motion in the Fund.
o
Students have
updated the chronicle.
o
We have updated our
web site.
o
We have finished carrying out the project in
2007/2008. We are waiting for the answers from the Funds and
Municipality.
Till 27.06.2008
o
We have talked to
the President of
The Regional Fund for
Environmental Protection and Water Management
about our project asking him for some
money for our project. He promised to support us.
o
We have filled in
the application to the Fund and arranged all necessary documents needed to
table a motion.
Till 20.06.2008
o
We have written an
official letter to the Municipality asking for financial support for our
garden. Some weeks before the students attended the meeting with the
President of Szczecin during which the vision of Szczecin as a city of
floating gardens was presented. After the meeting they told him about our
project and he promised help. In this official letter we reported what we
have done so far, what we want to do and achieve and we attached some
pictures. We referred to the meeting and President’s promise.
o
We have prepared
diplomas and books as rewards for students who has participated in the
project the most. On each diploma we wrote for what we thank them.
o
We have handed the
rewards during the official finish of school year.
o
We have translated
to polish partners’ opinions about the visit.
o
We have been
summing up and translating the opinions of our students.
o
Another article
about our project has been published in the local newspaper, this time it
concerned partner’s visit.
o
We have worked at
our web site, but it is still not as it should be, important parts are
missing.

Students have
finished the posters from partners’ visit and the last edition of
our information board.

We have been

We have upgraded

We have chosen

site and which ones to develop for posters, information board and
chronicle. It was a hard choice!

Students have done
two posters and are doing two more about partners’ visit. They are also
preparing the last edition of the information board.

thinking about prizes for students who took part in the project the most
actively. We had do decide whom to reward with books.

preparing thank-you diplomas for them and for the host families.

among students beautiful leaflets and catalogues about partners’ countries
which they brought to Poland.

detailed plan on a scale on which the students will place the new

winner will be officially introduced.

have received a gift from Bulgarians – symbol of health and success
connected with their national legend, given according to their tradition
– to friends on the accession of the beginning of spring.
